Chris, Vince, and John recap the end of the very first Plug Challenge as well as week two in The West and the opening day of the LCK before diving head first into our first (almost) full weekend of the calendar year which includes week three of the LCS and LEC and days three, four, and five of the LCK. Side topics and digressions include different approaches to rebuilding, being partially agnostic to results in best of one regions, who we think is fraudulent in Europe, why we're skeptical on certain teams in the LCK, aggressively closing a game vs conservatively closing a game, and excessive use of the word egregious!

Episode 42 - LCK Pre-Season Tier List Spring 2020

Chris, Vince, and eventually Kalvin break down all ten rosters and lay out their tier lists as we prepare for the LCK Spring season starting on February 5th.

We all somewhat agree that there is a clear top 7 and bottom 3 teams in the LCK this split and for the most part think that the top 7 are all capable of taking games off of each other and have a reasonable chance to win the split. We rank them by what we think is the likelihood that they actually win the split but just know that there is a lot of parity in the LCK and it's going to be a very competitive split. Chris and Kalvin had a bit more separation in their tiers dividing the top 7 into S, A, and B while Vince had a 6 team S-/A+ tier followed by A for Sandbox while. We all agree that the region is going to be competitive and close and that the top of the table is rather homoegnized. Our aggregation had a bit more clarity than we all thought.

Episode 39 - LEC Pre-Season Tier List Spring 2020

We hope everybody had an excellent holiday season but it's time to get back to work as we gear up for the 2020 competitively League of Legends season! We'll be doing our pre-season tier lists and power rankings for the four major regions (LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC) over the next couple of weeks to get them to you all before those respective seasons begin.
A big part of capping or playing daily fantasy for any sport is to have a concept of the relative strength of teams before games are played because there is frequently a big edge to be gained before we start getting data and sample size. It frames a lot of your comparisons, discussions, and early season decisions. Is this Team A being overrated? Underrated? How many things need to go right for this team to exceed their expectation? etc. etc. Often there is a lot of value because of price memory or perception from the previous year or name brand value compared to actual evaluation.
Ultimately we won't know exactly how things play out until we see it but it's a good excercise to get yourself well-versed on the regions you intend to focus on and prepare yourself for the year!
